Yoga

I've never really been a materialistic person and I've always been the kind of person that stays calm through pretty much everything. Sometimes people ask me how I do it, but I don't have an answer - it's just something that is. Well, when my father had his stroke, I didn't have an epiphany of what was important in my life: I already knew what was important. I had the epiphany when my nephew was born. Before he was born I could never imagine loving another as much as I love him. I love all my family but with my nephew it's different. I guess it's because he's so little and he needs guidance and help. I sort of went off the topic I wanted to write about - getting back on track. When my father had the stroke I realized that I should try to get in better shape and really put an effort into the whole "Tony has to get fit" plan. I have been going to the gym, but a friend of mine suggested I try yoga.

Hummmmm....when I think of me doing things - yoga isn't one of the things I imagine myself doing, but what could it hurt? I went to a yoga class last night at my friend's yoga center. The first thing we did was pound lightly on each other's abdomen to losen up our energy. I guess our energy sort of sticks inside us and we have to pound it lose - ok I can do that. Then we jumped around and yelled - I think that was to get our lose energy flowing, but I'm not real sure. I couldn't hear what the instructor was saying because of all the jumping and yelling in the room. The next thing we did was stretch or my case, try to stretch into positions that humans were never meant to stretch. It was then that I noticed I had a big hole in the heel of my sock. I tried to hide it, but I'm sure everyone saw it. The instructor would come around and lightly try to push me down or move me into the position everyone else was in, but things were not working out as planed. All I kept thinking was "Please God, don't let me fart"

After the class the instructor had me go into a little room where he told me to lay down and he began to poke his fingers into different areas of my body. He poked me in the chest, stomach, and legs. He poked me hard pushing down on me with his weight. He then told me that my chakras were not aligned and my energy was low, so I should sign up for a year. He pulled out a contract and wanted me to sign up. I told him that I couldn't sign up yet and my energy was probably just escaping through the hole in my sock. I would try a new pair of socks and see how my chakras liked that.

Yeah, and I bet the tops of non-holey socks have to be in identical positions up your ankles for chakras to be aligned, too. Still laughing. Thank you for your posts Tony, you make my day. (In a nice way, not a Swartzenegger way, you understand.)

Dude, I would have totally let one rip when he was poking me and then been like "Sure smells like they are in line...what should I do now?"

@Katherine - thanks for reading my posts. If I had a Swartzenagger body then I wouldn't have to go to the Yoga class.

@Sal - I was embarassed enough that my sock had a hole in it, you know how bad I would be if I actually farted in class or when he was poking me

@Chris - This place was cool but sort of high pressure at the end

Now that your "chakras" are alined & hopefully the holes in your socks are correctly alined ... feel better? Yoga can be alot of fun & very relaxing as long as you enjoy it & make allowances for those "escapes". Keep up the great writing.

Thanks, I don't know if I'll keep doing it, but in a way it was a bit fun.

      We miss you at work.
